Larnaca, Larnaka, Cyprus
A "Home away from Home" – Classy Apartments, Cypriot hospitality!
As a Professional Travel Guide Writer I am out searching for the best accommodation each time I am out travelling . I am aware of the traffic I have, the Agencies and Tour Operators that follow my Travel Guides worldwide and my aim is to spot only the best. This property was on my list to visit since last year.I actually spent one night here before setting off for my tour to other cities of Cyprus.
WARM WELCOME: I was met and welcomed by Stavri who escorted and showed me in to my apartment. For a moment when out at the balcony I was trying to spot the beach only to be told that I have one of the flats on the back side overlooking the neighborhood. Later on I realized that this was not a problem at all as guests who have apartments at the back can at least enjoy some stunning sunsets.
LOCATION: The property is located in a quiet residential area but still close to the centre. Out of curiosity I walked all the way on foot to the bus stop at the “Finikoudes” promenade the next morning to catch the bus for Limassol so I can personally assure that it is just a 5 or 6 minute walk up to there .
STORES AROUND: Besides the Carrefour and Lidl that are within a short drive, there is a 24-hour bakery close by, and if you don't wish to bother with cooking indoors, there are plenty of taverns, restaurants, coffee shops and bars in close proximity of different budget to choose from.
INTERIOR: Contemporary furnished with colorful interior and marble floors throughout, spacious and well maintained with attention to detail. The feeling was that of a home.
I never expected the apartment to be that bright at 3:00pm in the afternoon. It was full of light, was impeccably clean and so well looked after that seemed brand new as if nobody had stayed there before. The spacious and cozy sitting room and the open plan huge kitchen equipped with all necessary utensils, plus a big refrigerator assured a comfortable stay . There was a corner fireplace on one side and the double glazed windows opened to a spacious verandah.
High standards with nothing missing. We moved to the narrow corridor and Stavri showed me the first twin bedroom and the tiny bathroom with bath-tab by the corridor and then the double bedroom in colors of red and white. Nicely furnished too with a rather small en-suite bathroom and a walk in shower cabin. Liquid soap and Shower gel are provided but there are no plastic caps or shampoo so carry your own.
This apartment could easily fit 4 to 6 persons.
WI FI: Fast and complimentary internet connection.
TERRACE: The well maintained and beautifully decorated rooftop terrace can be shared by all guests. It provides BBQ facilities and offers panoramic views of the city and the sea. Unfortunately my stay was so short that I had only time to drop by for seconds, just for a couple of photos .
FACILITIES: An elevator and a 24-hour Front Desk service is provided, a Safe and a Hairdryer and several more. Better check their website.
HIGHLIGHTS: Indeed there is so much to see and do in the Historical City of Larnaca and most of the highlights are within walking distance. You could start your tour from the historical Saint Lazarus Church, visit the Ecclesiastical Museum there, the Pierides Private Museum –you will be impressed with its exhibits. The Municipal Art Gallery, the District Archaeological Museum. These are only a few to mention. The Medieval Castle is only a 10 min walk from the apartments, while the Larnaca International Airport is just 6km away. The taxi fee out there is €15.00 - €17.00.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Local buses can be considered the most cost effective way of exploring all aspects of the region including local villages and tourist locations in town . This is an ideal way to discover small residential villages, scenic locations, talk with the locals maybe stop off for a traditional coffee in one of the village coffee shops (kafenio). Believe me it does not get much more authentic than that.
EATING OUTSIDE: I highly recommend Panos Steak House. It is located close to the Medieval Castle, the food is exquisite, prices are reasonable and service professional.
IN ALL: I highly recommend this property for all the above reasons. The stay might have been short but pleasant, the location unique, the owners professional. They will go out of their way to be accommodating and I can assure that as a Cypriot I felt the authentic Cypriot hospitality here.
