Paphos, Cyprus

OUT FOR THE BEST
Being a Professional Travel Guide Writer and Food Critic, I have to admit that I have not as yet come across any other 5* hotel in the area that covers the whole package of my extreme demands.
You see, I am always searching for the Top.
The very Best accommodation, Value for money, Professionalism, Top Notch Service, Great Location, Tasty and Healthy Cuisine. All these are found here.
(Be sure to check the Deluxe Package and the benefits that follow).
This is how I Rate and Comment on This Year's Stay Experience:
LOCATION:
Directly on the beach, a great base for exploring the island from Paphos . Close to the city center and shopping area, in a quiet location yet within short distance from Paphos airport.
In an alternative of landing in Larnaca, you can come here through Limassol by "InterCity bus" departing from the promenade of Finikoudes, change bus in Limassol (New Port) and continue for Paphos with the same Company. The total cost is €8.00. Pick a taxi for €10.00 and ask to be dropped at the hotel. It is so simple, quick & cheap. By taxi the cost could vary between €130.00 – 150.00 especially if it is a weekend.
SERVICE:
The staff are all professional and truly know how to make their guests feel welcome with that certain ease which only comes after much experience. True team spirit, trained and engrained from the top down. Staff and management work on the least detail for the comfort, taste and preference of every individual guest.
WELCOMING:
How wonderful it is to have your own personal counsellor! Have you ever experienced that? Instantly you can connect and let them know if something comes up .
Guests are escorted in an inviting check-in lounge for a welcoming drink and some canapé.
This time I asked my treat to be taken to the suite as I wanted to have a wash first and enjoy it to the maximum. I asked for a glass of sparkling wine and it was there waiting for me when I stepped in. I had a long chat with my own counselor, exchanged ideas and thoughts, and felt this unique welcoming-back feeling.
AMBIENCE: The interior is as breathtaking as the surroundings and the atmosphere throughout the premises is second to none.
SUITE:
Although I was here for 4 nights I had the suite #326 the first day since all the Executive One bedroom suites were occupied. The 2nd day after breakfast I moved to #123 which was identical to the one I had last year with its own private pool and Jacuzzi . Spacious and designed exceptionally to offer luxurious stays, equipped with top amenities. I found it hard to leave the comfort of the suite and go outside the premises, except for the strolls I had daily, by the promenade-pathway to exercise.
Interiors have contemporary lines and all suites have identical facilities, functional and trendy, ideal to offer the absolute delight of a stay. A bottle of wine, a couple of fruit and tiny sweet pastry delights were highly appreciated as a complimentary treat the day of arrival.
The bed was super comfortable, sheets were changed daily and in all, the suite was pleasantly spacious, spotless and tastefully furnished.
The view was uninterrupted to the “Palm Tree Oasis” as I like to call it, the beautiful garden and the pools. On the whole, all amenities are tailored to the needs of today's travelers. I would sit and watch the sunset at the end of the day…what a bliss!
BATHROOM: All en-suite bathrooms of the Asimina are elegant and spacious with separate walk-in shower space (rainfall style) and separate bath-tub Jacuzzi in the Executive suites .
One such was mine. Robes and towels of fine quality with pleasant smell of freshness, hairdryer, magnifying mirror, scales, slippers, even plastic flip flop for the outdoor private pool, ironing facilities, plus a full complimentary set of the 'Korres’ toiletries for extra pampering.
WI FI: Free and fast Internet corner connection in all suites.
THE SPA:
I did not even bother to get to the SPA this time. From a quick look I noticed high cost and this time the SPA is a private business running in the hotel’s premises.
With 2 Jacuzzi’s in the suite, the comfort and oasis of the room, the beauty of the gardens and the entire premises, who needs a SPA!
GROUNDS: Simply gorgeous! Immaculate grounds and pools with plenty of parasols, sunbeds and side tables to place your belongings.
Ice-cold face towels were an extra touch of pampering just when needed since temperature is quite high outdoors. I never used the outdoor pools though but I used a lot the pool of my suite, even at 10:00pm a little after dinner.
What a treat! It sounds too good to be true but it is the reality, the memory of which I cherish for a whole year until I am back again the following .
BREAKFAST:
An enriched full buffet breakfast with show cooking. I can’t remember of anything missing, with excellent service, high quality and yummy tastes. The service on all restaurants is top notch.
RESTAURANTS:
I was on HB and dined just one night at ‘Estia’ mostly out of curiosity to check the quality and variety of the buffet. Being a Food Critic I can tell, it did not disappoint me.
There was ample of everything, the presentation and tastes were great and with a fork in hand I nibbled anything that caught my attention. Salads were freshly cut and nicely presented while desserts that I came across were delicious.
KYMATA:
Eating in any of the restaurants of Asimina is a pleasure but this one is my favourite for its atmosphere in general .
The word ‘kymata’ in Greek means waves, and every time I hear this word I instantly have the picture of this restaurant in mind.
I grade it first for its unique location for the lapping and sound of waves on the coast, the inviting sounds and melodies from Christo’s guitar who performs for years every other night with the same passion and love for music.
I love ‘Kymata’ for the superb dishes whose smell of grilled fresh seafood mingles in the air with that of the sea and weeds creating a magical sensation.
And after the loud partying sounds of the cruise ship that passes by disturbing twice the night’s tranquility you will feel pleased and thankful that you are where you are and not on board that ship.
To regain your spirit back after the noise, just turn your sight at the lit coast, have a sip of wine or look up in the sky and see how bright the stars glow in the night out here .
The next step is to make a wish… to be here next year!
MENU: The menu is varied, the presentation excellent and I had the opportunity to try several.
SOUPS: Out of all, the one that stands out is the classic French Onion soup. I can speak highly of this one. If I see it on a list anywhere, I ask to try it and it is one of the ways I judge restaurants. I have had it last year too and loved it.
The Mushroom was a delicious full flavoured soup but the Fish Soup left me totally disappointed. It lacked flavour and taste and was diluted and watery.
APPETIZERS: I loved the Roasted Asparagus sprinkled with feta, olive oil & dill, and I had them twice.
The Seared Scallops were perfect the first night but the sauce was too salty the second.
The Classic Shrimp Cocktail was ok, but it could be better with less sauce. The portion was rich with plenty of shrimps but the sauce dominated the seafood.
FISH: I highly recommend the Grilled Salmon with dill sauce. It had a nice presentation, the fillet was tenderly juicy and was cooked to perfection .
I loved the ‘Saganaki’, (Grilled prawns in tomato sauce with garlic). I had it twice during my stay with rice on the side. Super yummy!
MEAT: Out of the Grilled meat list I tried the Lamb Chops. I can’t say I was thrilled though! Rosemary, basil and thyme did make the sauce topping flavorsome, the presentation was super, but the chops had been overcooked and had lost their tenderness.
BEVERAGE: I would always start with a sparkling wine to accompany appetizers. I had the French Chardonnay La Baume and the Grenache rose.
DESSERT: I had the Fruit Platter mostly this time instead of dessert and had some ice cream just once.
DINNER AT THE PIER: For a more intimate setting, guests can enjoy a romantic evening for two by the pier, in a cozy candlelight-filled atmosphere overlooking the coast . (Non-residents cannot use this facility).
IN ALL:
Once again, the overall stay was one to remember. I experienced an unparalleled level of excellent service, so if you are looking for a hotel where you can simply unwind and take it easy, this one is highly recommended. I like to feel at home even when I am away and I felt that the Asimina is as personal as it gets. I felt spoilt with all the care and attention thanks to the whole professional team.
