QUARTEN TO BUCHS 45KM

Buchs, Aargau, Switzerland
Fine & sunny, 11-20deg. Last nights room with a view, "dinner" which consisted of bread, cheese, cold meat (well we were in a Monastery) & a sweet, plus a cold breakfast this morning cost $257.41. The Nuns and hired help were very friendly and welcoming so no complaints from us.
Brekky wasn't until 8am so it was 9:20am before we rode out . A very quick ride down the mountain started the day off on the right foot (pedal). We continued along the shores of Lake Walensee surrounded by massive cliffs and alps. The high ones had snow on top, which was kinda nice considering we were riding along in bright sunshine with the temp about 20deg. Mainly rural today, cows, horses, grain crops with some sugar beet. The off-road bike paths cut straight through the farms and properties so you can see right into their way of life so to speak. They get it pretty good by the look of things.
About the 25km mark we joined the Rhine Cycle Path for the first time. The mighty Rhine here is merely a trickle as it is not far from its source. There's a smooth bitumen bike path on both banks, one in Liechtenstein and the other in Switzerland. We did a short foray into L'stein and then rode onto our motel at Buchs. Greg had stayed at this motel in 2012 and rated it the best he'd ever been in. We were settled in by about 1:30pm.
