CTU is an acronym for Centre of the Universe, aka Toronto

Our longtime Swedish amigos, Daniel and Sara, had just returned home from a journey through Uzbekistan, when they decided it hadn’t been quite cold enough for them there.
What better than a quick-fix trip to Canada, where it snows all of the time, they thought.
When they arrived wearing parkas, I explained to them sadly, that global warming had made Canada a very different place. Then went on to say with a smile, that if we turned off the heating before bed, and got up around six the following morning, we would get a feel for the old Canada.
Whenever anyone comes to visit us at the CTU, Elenka and I always wind up doing something we’d never done before. This time was no exception. Daniel and Sara had decided they wanted to take us for high tea. Not really being into drugs I said, Oh, what the Hell, to myself and off we went. Turns out, there is no getting high at high tea. It’s all about drinking the stuff, while eating sandwiches and desserts.
As the week went on, we walked the streets and parks; bicycled the islands off the southern coast; visited the Bata Shoe Museum; shopped at the St. Lawrence farmers market; ate at a highly recommended, all-you-can-eat, sushi joint called Kaka Japanese; and strolled the boardwalk on the eastern beaches of Lake Ontario, where I tried without success, to get Sara to go in for a swim.
Evenings were set aside for the European card game called, Scheißkopf, or Shithead in English.
Sara says my Swedish pronunciation is better than many of the new Swedes who’ve lived in Sweden for 40 years or more. But she also said our cat Mango seems to be a step above me in understanding what the Swedish words mean.

Your story and photos brought me back to Toronto... I can feel the smell of the city. I have noticed you have a beautiful, new dining table :) But a big thumb up for your red star cap Jack :)

Few interesting things you mentioned that we haven’t experienced in Toronto. High tea, the museum, spring in April… Need to revisit.
