Ålesund, Møre og Romsdal, NorwayYesterday, while Renatka went on a scenic bus tour, Elenka and I stood, sat and saunaed the day away in awe of Hjorundfjordan, the best fjord of this entire 5,500 kilometre journey, from Bergen to Svalbard and back.
Today, we sadly disemebark the Trollfjord. We are also in agreement that the meals we dined upon over the past two weeks were the best meals we’ve eaten in our entire lives. So I guess, best, is the keyword, when thinking about Hurtigruten.

To give you an idea of how special these fjord excursions are, I wouldn’t be surprised if half the passengers aboard the Trollfjord were Norwegian. The other day, we had a good long chat with a Norwegian woman who told us her and her husband have taken more than a dozen of these coastal cruises. The Hurtigruten line also does mail runs from the south to the north of Norway on a regular basis. Elenka asked our new Norwegian friend if the food is as good on the mail runs. The woman, with a smile said, absolutely.

Note: I’ve attached five meal photos. Since Elenka and I do not eat four-legged creatures, we shied away from the pork, the beef and especially Santa’s reindeer.

You have captured the beauty of your Norwegian visit exquisitely, I want more more more. Each and every picture held my attention completely. You certainly know how to express your love of what is truly a gift to be enjoyed by all. I found myself on the edge of the fjords engulfed in the natural beauty everywhere. From the highest mountains to the valleys, the architecture and beauty of everyday living, what a way to live. As for the food, well, have to say I that’s a menu I would be happy with, no complaints. Yes, thanks for your travel news and great photos of the fantastic fjords (and of the food of course). I'll probably never get to visit Norway but it's made me think that I wouldn't mind ... I read a few Knut Hamsun books when I was young and the photos made me want to read them again. Sending love to you both.
