Jack is taking a bit of a break, so just a quick note from me about my impressions.

North of the Arctic Circle, it is like spring with the sun shining, temperatures around 18C and flowers blooming everywhere. The sun sets at 11:15 p.m. or so and rises again at 2:00 a.m. It never gets truly dark, more like a cloudy day.
Our first stop in Reine was like walking through a ghost town. All of the locals probably choose to stay indoors when the cruise ship arrives. But the town is full of other tourists, ready to kayak, climb the surrounding mountains or just take in the views.
Tromso is a more bustling city with loads of touristy shops and cafes.
Tonight we sail to Honningsvag, the most northern city in Europe, 2000km south of the north pole.

Great photos! And wonderful blue skies! Am surprised how lush the vegetation is considering how far north you are. Must be the currents. Looking forward to your shots from Svalbard and Longyearbyen (what a name!)

Reminds me of my trip to northern Finland as a boy with my dad and older brother. We were so excited to write a postcard to Mom by the midnight sun! Beautiful pictures. But who said Jack could take a break??
