Thursday, 5/22/2014: It was time to visit a few of Nelly's old friends in her old stomping grounds. To start, the train we took from Brig broke down and we were an hour late. Anyway, we arrived in Sissach and visited with Nelly's ex boss and wife: Tita & Erwin. Next we met up with Nelly's childhood girlfriend Verena and her husband Walter. They drove us to a secluded country side restaurant in Wittinsberg. After lunch, off we went to Laufelfingen, Nelly's hometown. There, Nelly went to visit Verena's mother and a friend at the nursing home. Nelly even had time to visit her parent's graves. Jim, meanwhile, was driven by Willi to English speaking friends in Runenberg. Nelly met up with Jim and her English speaking friends, the Borlin's, in Runenberg. We had dinner there. At 8:30 pm it was time to say 'Adios' and get on the train back to Brig. This time we did not miss the train. We made it back to Naters by 11:00 pm. Now we rest up for the next adventure. We will spend the weekend at a friend's house in the French speaking part of Switzerland. More next week.
