Our hottest, sunniest day in England.

York, England, United Kingdom
Every morning groups of up to 15 - 20 horses clip clop past, we now sleeping thru them! It was different again seeing them in the fog, strange fog, much denser above our heads, thick could look at the sun, it looked like the moon.
We took the A1 today, BIG haulage trucks, streams of them. Plenty of room tho, and safe traveling.
11.30am York, brilliantly fine, not a cloud in the sky, hot & sunny. Left the car in a park & ride. Free parking, return bus ticket was £3.10 each, they came every 10mins. Think it must have been pension day, we felt very comfortable on the bendy bus filled with the grey brigade.
We walked into York Minster and actually didn’t like what we saw! Didn’t appeal to either of us, so we walked back out - if we weren’t enthused, why pay £11ea to take a 1hr tour.
We wanted to do the Snickleways tour at 2.15pm, so did a canal cruise again, saw a couple of lovely live in boats.
Walked the wall, that was a real disappointment, we’ve experienced a few old town walls in Europe, walked them, this, to me, was a tourist gag.
We arrived at the meeting place for the 2.15pm walk to find our guide with a torn calf muscle, no tour, sooo disappointed, a lady from California was there, then two men (one fromNZ) arrived. Poor guy, James, he was apologetic, then proceeded to tell us of a book, in its 9th edition “the Snickleways of York”  http://snickelways.co.uk/  and where to buy it.
We all said good bye, then met again in the bookshop! All had the same idea, the book was £5.99  the tour was £4ea. Bought the book, then James appeared, he’d take us to the nearby Snickleways to set us going. An hour later he was still with us all, actually, walking better than when he started too!!
We didn’t do anymore, it was 3.15 and we’d hadn’t even had an apple, that’s when we went to the roof top terrace at the pub. The terrace was something else, pansey & petunias & geraniums, be awesome at night, lights strung everywhere, and so compact, wonderful ambience.
Left at 5pm, York was 22*
Saw a lot of pheasants, dead and alive, they seem to be the only road kill you see around here.
6.15pm home 19* and still clear, not a cloudy in the sky.
