Casablanca, Morocco
Our arrival in this famous west African city is at sunrise and the smell of city pollution is strong. Our trip today will take us through Casablanca to Rabat the capital of Morocco, We follow the winding highway along the coast for 50 km north. Rabat seems less sprawling and more better cared for the Casablanca. A new transit system is being built. We stop at the Royal Palace, then to the great mosque where you will find the resting place of previous Moroccan royalty. We go the the 2000 year old Roman village which was also used as a Muslim private school, After lunch of stewed chicken and couscous, we make our way back to Casablanca. Our guide tells of the story of the movie Casablanca and how an enterprising American entrepreneur purchase a building and had it restored to the condition of the movie with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. The place is called Ricks Cafe and our guide Ali sings some of the song - As Time Goes By.
