Time for Merton Goodbyes........

Merton, England, United Kingdom
We have had a really great week with Barbara and the hospitality has been absolutely tops. Nick driving us everywhere, Barbara cooking scrumptious meals, even when she must have been feeling really tired after a day of sight seeing. Even doing our washing for us when went off for the weekend. Thank you so much Barb.

We said our 'Goodbyes' by about 10.00am and headed off on the B386 to our next destination, the tiny village of Harrowbarrow in Cornwall. We did call into the village square of Merton first though. We will be staying with Peter's cousin Clifford and his wife Brenda until Sunday. Their youngest son Sam still lives at home and the eldest son James lives with his girlfriend on a farm over on the coast near Delabole. It is near Camelford and we were close to there on our travels last Saturday.

We had to ask a couple of people where 'Chicksands' Rising Sun, was in Harrowbarrow as the postcode got us pretty close, but not quite close enough! We arrived about noon and just a few minutes before Brenda arrived home from work. Brenda has taken a few days holiday to be home during our stay, which is extremely kind of her.

The rest of the day was for chatting and we were delighted to know that Muriel was bringing Aunty Kath over for a cuppa about 3.30pm. Aunty Kath will be 94 on the 21st September and she is truly remarkable as well. She does use a zimmer frame to get around now, as she is not so stable on her feet. Her memory is still quite good, but the family do feel that they have seen her go downhill quite a lot, since the loss of her eldest child Colin in November last year. We are so glad we are making this visit.
