Sorting, weighing, posting and a Wharfe walk

Wetherby, England, United Kingdom
Yuk! Today we needed to sort the cases and we have decided to post some STUFF back home. Going to a conference and being on tour for 74 days doesn't seem to be such a good plan, when it comes to controlling weight in the suitcases! We decided to package up the conference reports, programme etc, that I do want and need to keep. Paper can be quite weighty! And we have picked up a few things along the way of course! What a time consuming process it ended up being though! For anyone taking tips from this blog, it is far cheaper to post 2 Kg packages than anything larger. So when we got to the small Wetherby Post Office, we found ourselves weighing and re-packaging. Poor Gill, she thought we were lost! She had trouble finding a park and ended up coming back twice, to make sure we were okay.

After lunch we enjoyed a walk down one of the many walk trails Gill and Carl have within close proximity of their home. Many of them have been made along the old railway line. The track we walked, took us down to the River Wharfe. We followed the river back to the townsite, learning about different trees as we walked. Of special interest was the Eldenflower tree on which the berries were nearly ripe. The berries are very bitter, but they do make a very nice drink. There were also some lovely homes overlooking the river.

Aunty Jean was in a nursing home close to the shopping centre and there were times when Gill was able to take her into town for a coffee. For the last 12 months of her life though, that was not possible. Aunty Jean was a lot happier when she moved to the Wetherby Nursing Home and it did make it much easier for Gill. Wetherby is about two hours north of where Brenda lives in Leistershire.

Once home we watched the last set of the five set Andy Murray singles match of the Davis Cup semi final, that was being played in Glasgow. Argentina actually won the first rubber. Del Potro played really well. Friday night is always fish and chips night for Gill and Carl, so the guys went down and purchased the meal. Pretty good they were too. It will be sad to say goodbye tomorrow.
