Exploring and Cycling Around the other Wall (Xian)

Xi'an, Shaanxi, China
After 19 weary hours on the move to China, we arrived into a crisp Xian night. After going through Chinese immigration formalities (finger print scans), we headed for the baggage claim and there we met up with Dad and Shae. What a wonderful reunion … our family finally together again!
We were met by a driver who drove us to Xi'an Huakai Apartment (华凯公寓酒店)
which happened to be quite some distance away from the airport. This at least gave us as a family, time to catch up on the happenings of the past couple of weeks.
Our accommodation was on the 27th floor of the Zhongmao Plaza. Heated floors greeted us and after checking formalities with our host we pretty much all flaked out and fell asleep.
Some of us slept in until 10am, then we went in search of brunch. There was a huge food court beneath the apartment complex so we went there.
Later we caught the metro to the City Wall where we hired bikes and cycled the 13.74 kms around the entire wall. We tried a tandem bike, then later ditched it as it was way too wobbly. Was a huge ride, some parts easy and others very bumpy. Rhys even got a puncture.
After the ride, we went to the Bell Tower and the Muslim Quarter for a look-see and dinner at a Muslim restaurant. Trained home after an exhausting day.Top temperature was -2 degrees!
