We had a sleep in and at 11am went to the Lotte food Court for
some breakfast.
ROAMAS reached Gamcheon Culture Village (formed by houses built in staircase-fashion
on the foothills of a coastal mountain, earning this village the nickname of
"Machu Picchu of Busan." The many alleys cutting through this
community are vibrantly decorated with murals and sculptures created by the
residents) by the metro (line 1) getting off at Toseong Station, and followed
the signs by walking up the road to Gamcheon Culture Village. From there we
walked up a very steep road like the streets of San Francisco (about 200m) and
walked towards the pedestrian bridge. After the bridge is where all the
activity is and the start of the trail. At the Tourist information Centre we
bought a trail map for 2000KRW.
We had a great day out @ Gamcheon. Loads of interesting places to see, photograph and visit. The further along the trail we went, the less crowded it got. The trail gives you a great insight into the life of people who live in Gamcheon as you pass through narrow laneways. At the end are some great local eateries.

Next we got 2 taxis to Gukje Market. As we got split up, it was initially
hard to find each other and thank goodness for Life 360 which directed us
together again. We then roamed the market alleys which had great stalls selling
everything from live seafood, to clothing to kitchen ware to fruit and
vegetables.
Dinner was next
on the agenda and we found a great little eatery to have a hot pot meal. So
delicious and it hit the spot in the cold weather.
We caught the
metro home in preparation for New Years Eve celebrations later in the night.
At 10.30pm, we
set out for Gwangalli Beach where we were told the best NYE celebrations in
town would be. There were lots of people on the beach, but it was not crowded.
Approaching
midnight, the countdown was on … 5,4,3,2,1 and nothing happened!! What a
fizzer !!! People were setting off their own fireworks so we also bought some and
did the same. Happy New Year 2019!!!
We sauntered back
to Seomyeon very tired, after picking up some food from a grocery store.
