Daeksugung Palace

Seoul, Seoul, South Korea
Mum was not feeling confident about her knee so lay low today, doing the laundry and walking up and down the hip Hongdae strip (watching wanna be K-Poppers in action ! LOL !)
Dad and the kids went out to Daeksugung Palace to watch the changing of the gaurds, which was very interesting and offered an opportunity to witness traditional Korean royal culture and protocol involving traditional costumes, drums, weapons and specific roles (commanders, officials and musicians). A routine which went for about 10 mins. The next hope was to go ice skating, but the lines were too long so we left in search of food. We passed many shopping districts and over the Cheonggyecheon (a man made recreational creek that’s 10.9km long). Lunch was at a great restaurant for Korean food and later the Gwangjang Market where we got some yummy fruit juice and donut things to eat. Dad then gave the kids an allowance to buy food to share for dinner which was fun choosing from the myriad of things to eat.
Back home, Mum was sitting cosy catching up on her blog and photos. We then went out to a massive Daiso Department store selling everything from homewares, to travel goods, to stationery, to cosmetics to pet food. Everyone found something they ‘needed’!
