Cancun & Speedy Gonzales along Boulevard Kukulkan

Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico
Today is changeover day. We say goodbye to Jules, Rochelle and Ann-Marie plus Jeff.

So once the shops were open at 9 am and just 3 doors up from the hotel is a camera shop so I decided to buy some more SD cards. Just hate writing over a card on the trip in the fear that the back up on my eternal hard drive is lost or becomes corrupt!

That required a money change and once I compared the various money changers rate in this block went for 12.45 pesos to the dollar. Some were as low as 12.25.

Once all done walked out of the hotel and along came a bus marked R1. Just what I needed and it wasn’t full. Paid the 9.50 pesos / NZ $ .90c / US $ .70 (don’t know why they just didn’t make it a round 10 pesos) and hoped that it was going in the right direction. Yes it was .. Along Boulevard Kukulkan and the nearly 30 kms hotel strip. Boy this guy only knows one speed and it is not slow! Trying to take photos with palm trees in the median strip was fun (not).

At the end as I was the only one left he motioned me off but another R1 bus came along for the return trip in next to no time. Jumped on board, paid another 9.5 pesos / NZ $ .90c / US $ .70 and got much better shots of the hotels as again we whizzed by at times break neck speed … well not quite but at times it felt like he also was trying to break the trip record.
