Sightseeing in Lyon

Lyon, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France
We had a very nice breakfast in the hotel, some of the best scrambled eggs I have ever had from a breakfast buffet, before heading to the River Saone for the Sunday food market.
It was a very chilly day, but the market was amazing with a great selection of food.
We then headed for the funicular and went up Fourviere hill to the Basilica of Notre Dame.  Inside it was one of the most spectacular churches I have ever seen, very light and bright.  Unfortunately, no photos were allowed, so we only have memories.
After leaving the church, we spent some time looking at the marvellous view of Lyon and the surrounding countryside, before moving on to the Gallo Roman museum and the Roman Theatre.  We were unable to enter the Roman Theatre, due to safety reasons as there had been some light snowfall and things were very slippery.  The museum was very enjoyable and gave a good explanation of the Roman history of the region.
We had lunch in an English pub named Elephant, delicious bangers and mash before doing some laundry. Dinner was at a restaurant named Les Enfants Terrible, which was pleasant.  G had kebabs and Souffle de Glace Grand Marnier while I had Escalope de Veau with Pommes Dauphinoise and Crème Brulee.
