Travel to Avignon Where we Experienced Le Mistral

Avignon, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France
We caught the TGV train from Lyon to Avignon this morning and were met by Laurence, who we had hired for a private day tour the next day.  She was lovely and offered to collect us from the TGV station and take us into town.
Laurence assisted us with checking into our hotel, and getting us a map and marking restaurants and things to do on it for us.
We stayed at Hotel de L'Horloge, which was right on the main square in the centre of town.  We booked a Prestige room with a terrace overlooking the Palais du Papes.  While the view was lovely it was far to windy and cold to stay appreciating it for very long!  My hotel review can be found here:

We headed to one of her recommended restaurants for a quick lunch, a delicious Blanquette de Poulet with fresh vegetables. After lunch we spent the afternoon visiting the Palais du Papes, Rocher des Doms and the Pont d’Avignon.  The weather was gloriously sunny but the mistral was blowing and the wind was like ice!  We still enjoyed our visit to the famous bridge but I have never been so cold. Dinner was at La Fourchette, where we ate Brandade of Cod Three Ways, Boeuf Daube a la Avignon and finished with a chocolate dessert.
