Food Markets and Flamenco

Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and Canary Islands
Today started with our prebooked visit to Musee Picasso.  After seeing the one in Paris, I wasn’t really looking forward to this, but the Barcelona museum was much, much better.  After spending a couple of hours here I realised that I prefer Picasso’s early work – to my way of thinking he started off at around age 11 as a wonderful artist and got worse as he aged!
We spent the next few hours strolling around the Bari Gotic and El Born areas including a photo op at Arco de Trionfo, before heading to Las Ramblas and the Boqueria Market.
We love European food markets and this one was no exception.  After checking out all the amazing food on offer, we selected a seafood stall for our lunch and were lucky enough to grab two seats side by side.  G had an amazing grilled seafood platter while I ate grilled sea bass and vegetables.  We ended our lunch with a variety of chocolate truffles from another stall.
We continued our walk down Las Ramblas until we reached Port Vell where we spent some time looking at the views from this area. Our final sightseeing of the day was Barcelona Cathedral, including going up to the roof to see the views over the city. Tonight’s dinner was a dinner and Flamenco show at Tablao de Cordobes.  Dinner, as expected, was okay, pleasant and enjoyable but hardly Michelin quality.  The show was great fun and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
