Into Fjord country

Stavanger, Western Fjords, Norway
Today we headed into the true fjord area - Vestlandet.

But before that we followed more coastline with ever-changing geography. The start of the day was slow, as Ms GPS sent us down a road that became ever narrower, and when it turned into an uphill gravel track we decided to turn around. Lovely scenery though. And everywhere were wildflowers.

There are a number of well promoted light houses on this coast, and we detoured to see the Lindesnes Fyr. Lovely drive out there but we baulked at paying A$12 each to see it. Really- it's a lighthouse, and Bob said he had seen one before! The entry included the museum, but the lighthouse itself is part of the package. So I have a picture of half of it only.

We travelled along the shore of a number of fjords, one much bluer than the others for some reason. They all look very cold.

After stopping at a number of towns it was late afternoon when we were nearing Stavanger. Here the countryside for a while became flat farming land. Huge farms with huge barns. But rocks are everywhere and that seems to be what this area is made of.

There was still time for a walk to Stavanger centre. We still can't believe the restaurant prices.
Tomorrow we hope to climb to a very large rock. Preikestolen or Pulpit Rock. Hope we aren't over estimating our abilities for uphill hiking.

Houses on top of rocks, and under rocks! You'd think they wouldn't get enough sun under the rock? Hope you enjoyed the Indian? Xxx
