No rain last night and so far there is more blue sky than clouds, please let it stay that way till we leave the UK I would love wake up to a warm motorhome that didn’t feel cold and everything was damp.
Our night sleeping in the A515 layby was no problem slept like a baby plus there were 3 semi-trucks for added protection. The layby is off the main road and buffered by trees and bushes, 2 of the semi’s that arrived late last night left at 6am this morning and the driver we met last night travelling from Romania is leaving after 7am this morning.
Sorry to say as we set off on the A52 to Peterborough the dark clouds followed us. From Derby to Nottingham and Grantham we had to keep our mind and eyes on the road plus satnav manoeuvring round many roundabouts, over and under plus merging on dual motorways, including ring roads bypassing the cities to stay on A52.
Passed by many towns, cities, villages, industrial and agricultural areas till we could relax once we entered Leicestershire back to the beautiful countryside of sheep and cows grazing and fields of different grains (fodder for animals) before we neared Grantham, where we entered the A1 dual motorway with the thick tree coverage either side and the lovely speed cameras that average your speed the whole length of the A1.
Back to the views of fields of grain, farms with large barns, woodlands, the flow of traffic has been quite heavy and busy all the way from Ashbourne, lots of semis and trucks.
Needed a rest break and good stretch at a service rest area off the motorway just before the Rutland turn off, the coffee was very strong, pity the rain couldn’t make up its mind one minute it is drizzling, then sun showers to a good downpour when we reached Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Not a nice place to be on a rainy day in a strange large city navigating your way to ASDA for top-up supplies.
The rain never stopped till we reached Ferry Meadows Caravan and Motorhome Club Site situated in the Nene Park 5 hundred unspoilt acres where you can walk, cycle, horse-ride, go fishing, play a round of golf, explore endless meadows, lakes and woodlands all less than3 miles from Peterborough’s busy city centre. Thank you Arthur and Edna for the brochure and recommendation seeing you have stayed there.
We were very lucky to get a powered pitch, there were none available yesterday when I rang but this morning at 9am there were cancellations and we were booked in for the weekend. The only problem is the internet is very patchy and where we are at the moment there is no internet, so we might have to move over to the other area where we were first looking for a pitch, as we know we can get the internet there.
The sun is shining, lovely blue skies and not a cloud to be seen what a change from 2 hours ago, time for a cuppa and relax like everyone else in the full caravan site surrounded by trees and grass areas.
