Kelvedon Hatch, England, United Kingdom
As usual it is overcast the sun is trying to peak through the clouds, at least it is not rain for a change. Still not having much luck getting Margo, sent an urgent message to sister Joy in Perth to try and contact Margo for us. Somehow Joy got through to her where we couldn’t and Margo rang us within 5 minutes, all sorted and we will meet Margo and Fred at Bromley on Tuesday.
Spoke with the Site Warden Roger about their two sites Hertford and Kelvedon, both are halfway between Cambridge and Bromley to see which was the best to stay at for three nights. Decided on Kelvedon as there was more to see plus it is within striking distance of the beaches of the Essex coast. With that all booked in we took our time before leaving the Cambridge site by 12 noon.
Now the fun starts, trying to fool the satnav, it sent us in the wrong direction, backtracked to the M11 dual motorway for a quick drive to Junction 8 where we via off to A120 dual motorway in the direction of Great Notley. Our views are basically trees buffering the motorway, at times large harvested fields, woodlands and agricultural area of Cambridgeshire.
Turning the satnav off we navigated the roundabouts and motorways ourselves till we neared Kelvedon then Richard keyed in the caravan site postcode and that’s when the satnav took us in the opposite direction to Chelmsford on the A131 not continuing on the A120. As we were going through Chelmsford this is when I realised the satnav had us going in the right direction it was silly me who thought the Camping and Caravan Club site was in Kelvedon, Colchester direction when the site was is actually in Kelvedon Hatch in the opposite direction near Brentwood past Chelmsford.
Missed the slip road to Brentwood which would have taking us over the A12 to the A128 and onto the caravan site. We love the little roads and lanes, as we had to go all the way to the M25 to come back to the beautiful woods and negotiate the lanes to finally find the Kelvedon Hatch Club site set in the heart of rural Essex close to the outer rim of the London area.
Late afternoon time, for a cuppa and enjoying the warmth of the sun before it goes down plus a few more conversations with Margo.  Met our neighbours Linda and Terry from down near Hove, Brighton way here visiting their grandchildren.  A lovely couple who enjoy traveling like us.
