With so much on my mind it is amazing I slept like a baby till 7am and it was time to do the final pack of our suitcases. Had a fun time trying to fit everything in our cases to no prevail and Richard’s backpack came to the rescue, with a bit of rearranging all our bags were packed.
Our last breakfast with Margo and Fred and giving them all the goodies we couldn’t take home with us, they won’t have to shop for a while plus they aren’t sure what to do with the portable BBQ and coffee plunger.
Our morning was spent resting in the lounge with Margo and Fred talking about anything and everything, before taking our last wild drive with Margo to get fish and chips for lunch. Before we knew it was 3.30pm time for our pre-booked taxi ride to Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 and another sad farewell saying goodbye to Margo and Fred. We had thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them plus being extremely spoilt with their hospitality, it will be our turn if and when they come to Australia.
With the accumulation of baggage we managed to fit everything in the boot of the taxi with no problems and we were off on our 1½hour journey to Heathrow Airport passing through outer towns and countryside to bypass the afternoon traffic to reach the M25 to the airport.
We soaked in our last views of the English countryside and villages and there was a small ray of sunshine to farewell us.
Our taxi driver knew how to avoid the traffic even with the small build-up towards Heathrow, getting us there 10 minutes earlier before 5pm, I pity him going back as the M25 looks like a carpark. Checking in was quick, we are flying to Singapore on the A380 with window seats 72J&K on the upper deck. Security is tight with baggage checks, which is good and it was Richard who was patted down this time instead of me. We had a laugh I told him he looked like a crim and it was about time he was picked on instead of me. Customs was a breeze and the first hour passed quickly, time for a coffee at Starbucks right next to Gate C55 Departure Lounge for Flight BA11 to Singapore. Watched the A380 being loaded and before we knew it, it was boarding time and thankfully the plane was only partly full. Nearly all the middle seats were vacate so I claimed a row to have a comfortable sleep seeing our flight will take just over 13 hours.
The plane departed on time at 7.55pm smooth take off and we saw our last views of London and the UK, with our evening meal over, time for a movie and hopefully some shuteye. There was a lot of turbulence on our flight but we did manage to get some sleep.
