Slept like the dead even though the bed was hard bring back memories of the motorhome. Looked at my watch and surprised to see it was well after 10am in the morning, must have been very tired, a good cup of coffee or two and we are right for the road. Time to check out Singapore, but first over the road to the Peninsular Plaza for a bite to eat then off up North Bridge Road to the ethnic district of Kampong Glam for Richard to browse in some Fish and Tackle shops.
Before we even left the Peninsular Plaza we had a chap from a camera shop try to clean my camera and then sell me a lens to increase the size of my pictures, but he picked the wrong person I don’t buy what I don’t need.
With a cool breeze and walking in the shade we didn’t feel the humidity as we walked to and around Kampong Glam (Malay and Arabic district) where all the fishing shops were but there was nothing of interest for Richard.
Changed direction and walked back along Beach Road stopped to look at the Raffles Hotel which is being refurbished and got cornered by another chap who took us to the Esplanade Xchange building to where we can buy the gorgeous custard tarts and have a coffee, as well as buy 2 tickets to the Gardens by the Bay from him seeing we were going to go there tomorrow.
The chap was a wealth of information telling us we didn’t need to go to Orchard Street for Richard to look at Nike shoes, just go back to the Peninsular Plaza where our hotel is, which we did but might leave it till we get back to Perth as he can’t find the Nike’s he wants.
Good excuse to go back to the hotel to rest our feet and have a cuppa. We were going to see the laser show at the Marina Bay Sands at 9pm but by the time we had a late dinner and bought another memory card for the video camera it was a bit late to walk there. Tomorrow we are going to Gardens by the Bay including watching the light show of the Supertrees at 7.45pm where we can walk across to Marina Bay Sands to watch the laser show.
