Moving on to Caliguel Lagoon near Condamine

Condamine, Queensland, Australia
2nd June - Caliguel Lagoon
It was a little warmer today thankfully, with no frost. After Rick made the coffee and cooked the porridge ( yes, he's becoming quite versatile in the kitchen, as long as I prepare it the night before) we hit the road, with Dalby being our first stop.
At the camping and fishing shop, we purchased scupper plugs, to keep our rear ends drier in the kayak, hopefully. Then it was off to Woolies to do the final shop, as we realised there wouldn't be much choice from now on, and probably more expensive.
Well loaded, with the fridge and freezer in the van bulging, we blobbed along the road through Condamine to Caliguel Lagoon on the Condamine River, where we shall possibly stay for three nights.
3rd June - Caliguel Lagoon
2 degrees outside when we woke this morning and the day was glorious. We each had a lovely long paddle on the Lagoon, me before lunch, Rick after lunch.
We drove into the town of Condamine later to the pub, The Condamine Bell, which has been nearly fully rebuilt since the 2011 floods. The town was named by the explorer Allan Cunningham in 1827.
On the way back to camp we could see something black in the middle of the road- a crow, a wallaby, no, a little bull terrier dog. He seemed keen for a ride, so I got out and started walking to find where he could have come from, and soon found a wild and woolly mob camping along the lagoon who had no idea he was missing. He didn't appear too interested in going back to them, but Rick said I couldn't keep him :-( I still worry about the poor little fella, though he appeared well fed.
4th June - Judds Lagoon
We moved on this morning to check on another spot, Judds Lagoon, just out of Yuleba, not too far from Roma. Our first stop was Miles to fill the water tanks and fill up with fuel, even though we didn't need much, but the price was right - diesel $1.169 per litre.
Arriving at lunchtime, we were lucky to get a lovely lagoon side spot to stay for the night. There were at least twenty camps here but we felt quite alone. There were people from Hobart in their van near us who have been on the road for two years looking for the perfect place to live. They were out at Birdsville and the areas we are heading about four weeks ago so we received lots of good advice.

Penny, it is a single seat kayak, so we can each enjoy a paddle at different times. Very serene.
Judy and Peg, Judds Lagoon was an amazingly peaceful place.
