Quilpie has lots to see for such a little town. It celebrates it's centenary this year in April.First port of call was the information centre where there is a wonderful museum of Quilpie's history. Then we went next door to the art gallery where a lovely quilt exhibition was on display. All this made us hungry so we crossed the wide country road and had lunch at one of the two pubs in town. Pretty basic pub fish and chips with a minute salad, though when we see the price of tomatoes - $12.50 per kilo, and lettuce here it's understandable.
Later we drove up to Baldy Top Lookout for an expansive view of the town and the channel country around it.
Back at the camp we walked across the railway line and wandered along the Bulloo River Walk, then back to the van for a lazy nibblies tea at the wonderful Rick built fire. He certainly is an excellent campfire builder, luckily for me. Tomorrow we are moving on towards Windorah.
