Another day in Windorah

Windorah, Queensland, Australia
We decided to have another night at Windorah in the C'Park as it is so peaceful and relaxing. At $15 per night we can just about afford it. It is the grocery shopping that breaks the bank - $6 for 2 litres of fresh milk (we'll use our store of long life milk from now on), $7 for a dozen local eggs, $6 for a loaf of sliced bread.
We walked to the supermarket (The Outback Shop built in the late 1880's) after a late breakfast, and then a little further down the road to the home of Tar pot, the little tin shack which was once the Windorah Courthouse. We weren't lucky enough to see him sitting outside this morning but his door was open as usual. Tar pot has been known by that name since he was eight, when his father nicknamed him because of his jet black hair.
Back at the van Rick did a couple of running repairs and helped some more campers out. I did lots of reading and we whiled the day away.
Later we walked up the road to a dirt track which led us to the cemetery. There was an assortment of graves dating from 1896 on. Some graves were mounded up with earth and decorated with artificial flowers and trinkets in abundance, probably fairly recent and local Aboriginal people.
We used the microwave to cook nachos for tea, just because we could. Tomorrow we are definitely moving on towards Birdsville, though I just saw that a new series of Poldark begins on ABC tomorrow night- maybe we could stay just a little longer.
