Burlington Day 2&3

Tuesday, October 08, 2013
Burlington, Vermont, United States
We were glad to be tied up during the wind and rain yesterday. 35 mph winds and lots of rain. The marina didn't entirely shelter us from the waves. It is a large area inside the breakwall and there were whitecaps inside the harbor. We did some rocking and rolling until the wind calmed down Tuesday morning.

We've spent the last couple days getting ready for the road trip home. We've arranged transportation and have done some organizing aboard the boat. I also finally got the oil changed in the engines.

One complication has arisen as to our chosen marina. They are concerned that Meander is too heavy for where they planned to put her. Some sort of soil issue. So we have made arrangements with another marina down the lake 35 miles or so where they actually have room for one more boat inside. Not heated, but inside. I don't think Meander has ever spent the winter outside so I was feeling bad for her that she would be alone outside under shrink wrap during a snowy Vermont winter. So she'll be inside. Cold but sheltered.

The good news is that we have one more day of cruising! It's supposed to be 60's and sunny tomorrow so it will be a scenic run down the lake during Vermont's peak color season.

It's been fun reading about your trip and looking over all your pictures. See you on your return to our big city Port Huron...Maritime Capital of the Great Lakes!, but small enough to be friendly

PS. say hi to Meander from The Odyssey
