Sauteurs, Saint Patrick, Grenada
2 hrs, 2 kms

After following the winding road up and then down the mountain . Then suddenly the scenery changes dramatically from mountain to flat. I find myself walking a flat, straight road through banana plantations--the first largge farms I've seen.

I've gotten so used to mountains that I almost forgot what flat looks like--and how difficult farming must be on Grenada's mountainous terrain. With these steep slopes, it's all but impossible to get any heavy machinery in, which means work is all done by hand. It is nice to see that at least a little bit of the land makes it easier on farmers.

Finally I reach Sauteurs, the main town on the north shore of Grenada. There's another nice shady beach with colorful boats. There's a cliff on the side with a charming church. I'm liking this town.

And it's got something I've missed during this whole trip: a cybercafe. Not many of these here in the Caribbean, now that everyone it seems has a smartphone and/or a tablet.
