Peruvian Vale, Charlotte, Grenadines/St Vincent
2 hrs, 2 kms

I take a little time to soak in the beauty of this jungle gorge, with jagged cliffs poking out from underneath the blanket of vines and jungle growth . Down by the river I find a nice spot for a parkbench concert. A portly middle aged lady calls out to me, inviting me to stop by, I assume. I pass by her house afterwards, and can't understand much of anything she says--just something about Jesus... and me taking her picture... so I do...

I continue on through a quite, undeveloped stretch, as the road rise high along the side of the gorge, with just occasional isolated farmhouse and plot of land. Finally the Atlantic Ocean appear ahead. Along its shore, a full size airstrip is being built, cutting into the mountains and reaching into the sea. This is to be St Vincents first international airport. I wonder what changes this new airport will bring to this peaceful, laidback little island.

Down at the shore is the village of Peruvian Vale. Looks like I've still got a bit of time for hiking. So I start my hike up the Atlantic Coast.
