This side of the island it seems doesn't have any flat land at all suitable for farmer . I talk to a farmer and ask him.
"There are some flat areas high up the mountains--but there are no villages up there, we just have to walk there"
The road winds higher and higher, until I reach the village of Coulls hill. It's more of a scattering of houses, tucked in the lush jungle--but it still has the feel of a neighborhood. From one house I hear music... from another house a couple arguing loudly... Then, of course, there's the village bar which seems to be active all throughout the day.
