Quadra Island - Chinese Mountain
Quadra Island II

Quadra Island - campground Camping at the Rebecca Spit
What is better than to wake up again to sunshine after a rainy start… and so today we decided to bring out our brand new kayak.

Quadra Island - relaxed kayaking We have a sea eagle kayak
Because if you live at the ocean and have lots of lakes around you need something so you can go out in the water: so the option was canoe or kayak?
Paul didn’t like either one because of storage issues – so when we met the couple at the Cowichan Lake with an inflatable kayak – we said that’s it… so we checked it out and here it is: let’s get it started and let’s go out in the ocean

Quadra Island - kayaking Kayaking in the Bay
So as Gine always wanted a kayak to have some activity… after 2 minutes on the water Paul made that remark: That thing doesn’t has an engine – guess he is right, because it’s called exercise….
And did I mention as soon as we came back from the trip Paul went on the internet checking out “things or boats” with engine… but that would be then another travel pod….
So we paddle and it is a lot of fun… to the end of the spit around – to the other side of the bay… there is so much so see and so much fun.

Quadra Island - at Rebeccan Spit A break at the Spit
So today our break is out at the spit… and since we are here, we had to check it out a little bit further and today we had an amazing view: what yesterday was nearly imagination in the cloudy foggy weather today we can see it all clearly: the supercool island world – no wonder they call them Discovery island… too much to do to ever discover all.

Quadra Island - Chinese Mountain On top of the Chinese Mountain
Today we decided to go for a hike and whenever Gine goes for a hike: we need a view and so our goal was the top of Chinese mountain.
So up it goes and warm it is and guess what: some nice flies love Gine but Gine doesn’t love the flies….
What is really nice whenever we came to a nice rocky area we had an amazing view on the one side to Vancouver Island with Campbell River and the mountains behind – down to Rebecca Spit and from up here the spit looks really super cool and all the way to the Coastal Mountains and the Islands.

Good thing we brought the binoculars so Paul could check out everything!!
And this mountain has more than one peak so after the first fun we went on and then we had more views on some lakes and the other side.
I think we saw all directions: south end of Quadra Island with our big Island – the east south side with the spit. We saw left and right and north to the end of Quadra Island….

Quadra Island - beach time Relaxing at the beach
And since we have now such a wonderful weather – we have to enjoy the huge beach at low tide… what is really great here is: whenever you need a break to explore – you get up and check out the spit – the driftwood – enjoy the view: and we get never tired of this

Quadra Island - sunset Kayaking for sunset
Who says you can only kayak during the day and you have to paddle all the time: so we went out in the bay brought our books and relaxed: because it is awesome only drifting around – enjoying the views when the sun sets… paddle a little bit more… then read a little bit

Quadra Island - sunset Which one is the best sunset?
And every evening we are again thinking which the best sunset was? Difficult to say – but one thing is for sure: sunsets at the water with a lot of islands is super cool….

Good bye Quadra Island Do we have to leave?
Another sunny day… and we have to leave.
So during waiting for the ferry we had fun walking around the Marina… and then enjoyed the short ride over to our island
