Travel Day

This morning because of the rain we slept in, and didn’t leave the campground until 10:00 . We
drove west a short distance to Republic MO, and the “Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield” where we spent about 3 hours talking to the rangers, watching the movie and taking a self-guided auto tour of the battlefield and surrounding area. Wilson’s Creek played a significant role in the Civil War as it was the first major battle west of the Mississippi River. We enjoyed our short stay here as it was another piece of the amazing yet disturbing puzzle that is the Civil War. Leaving Wilson’s Creek we headed south on US 65 and our next campground in Branson MO.
