Non-Travel Day

This morning was spent relaxing at the camper . After lunch we headed into Biloxi and continued west on Highway 90 to "Beauvoir" The Jefferson Davis Home & Presidential Library. This was an unexpected find, as we were just sightseeing along the gulf coast. This is the last home of Jefferson Davis, the only President of the Confederacy. After viewing 2 short films on Jefferson Davis and the building of the home we took a guided tour of the home, which was heavily damaged by hurricane Katrina, but restored to its former glory, and includes period furniture, vintage photographs and several pieces belonging to the Davis family. After the home tour we took a tour around the perimeter of the property in a horse drawn wagon; this was a great way to see the grounds but the heat of the day was a challenge. Continuing west on Rt. 90 we visited the “Island View Casino Resort” where we had dinner and played the slots for several hours, breaking even for the night.
