Non-Travel Day

Since we were here in Golden CO, the home of Coors Brewing, it only seemed right that we take the brewery tour, so off we went first thing this morning . At 10:00 AM we boarded the
shuttle bus to the plant and the self-guided tour. The tour route and what we say was fantastic, and at the end we had the opportunity to sample 3 different beers, not being
beer drinkers we only had one sample. After lunch we took a drive on the “Lariat Loop” National Scenic Byway. The first segment was a climb up Lookout Mountain; this was a steep and winding 2 lane road up the mountain side with numerous switchbacks; at the top the view of the surrounding valley, canyons and other mountains was fantastic. After the overlook we went on to the “Buffalo Bill Memorial Museum and Grave Site”, the museum was a fantastic accumulation of memorabilia from his life and the Wild West show, and we thoroughly enjoyed the museum. The road took us over mountain roads through canyons, along the side of a large stream; and through several mountain towns, it was a beautiful ride. Along the way we took a side trip into the “Red Rocks Park”, here plate movements millions of years ago pushed these red rocks to the surface, creating these tilted red rock formations. What makes these red rocks even more unusual is that they are only visible in this one small area.

Although you have taken many beautiful photos, I especially like the one taken on Lariat loop. It looks like something that should be in a frame.
