Leaving Camaguey Hotel at 11 am (11:00), where we had a toilet stop, we headed east.

We had a shorten 20 minutes from the planned 45 minute lunch break at Las Tunas, the city of tinajones (clay pots) so that Jose could spend a bit more time with his parents who lives in this area and daughter whom he was meeting at Bartolome Maso.

Here at Bartolome Maso we had a view of the surrounding countryside from one of the local hotel swimming pool – Cristal beer and 2 bottles of 500 ml water CUC$3.50 / US$3.50 / NZ$5.40. It was at this point where we 18 swapped into two 4x4's for the 19 km transfer up to Santo Domingo. Yes, the roads were very steep and the bus still travelled there with our bags but minus us passengers.
 
 





















































 















































 
Forty five minutes later we arrived at the hill side community of Santo Domingo. Surprised to find Wi Fi at Villa Santo Domingo and got a new card at CU$C2 / US$2 / NZ$3 for another half hour's use. This was by far the best accommodation on the whole trip. Pity it was for one brief night.

With just 30 minutes of daylight left, it was a walk to one end of the one and only road here, as far as the Rio Yaro seeing the locals go about their daily routine.

A late dinner at 8 pm (20:00) of lovely roast pork with the crackling that was really crunchy and all for CUC$12 / US$12 / NZ$18.50. By now we expect the cabbage, tomato, cucumber salad, dry bread, rice and black beans and guava with a bit of cheese as ones standard entree and dessert.
 
Walking back across the rickety foot bridge across the Rio Yaro wondering what happens in the rainy season when the river level would certainly wipe out the foot bridge, we walked the short distance back to the accommodation only to be joined by a horse.
