Largest City in the South

Punta Arenas, Chile
This Chilean City came as a surprise with high rise buildings and a large casino that lines the port shores. Sculptured trees line wide boulevard complete with statues of founders and war heroes. We are taken on a tour of the city, a well organized museum and an outdoor pioneer village. We also visit a vast cemetery filled with hundreds of mausoleums. One in particular is a statute of a native said to have blessed healing powers. A large statue of Ferdinand Magellan is found in the busy town square. We enjoy fresh roast peanuts obtained from a street vendor.
