Saint Mary, Montana, United States
SCENIC ROADS: Going-to-the-Sun road isn't the only scenic drive in east Glacier.
Both US- 89 and MT-49 should be on the list for the best scenic highways.
US-89: The mountains along the Continental Divide in Glacier National Park provide incredible scenery along this road that goes from Browning to Saint Mary, then along pretty Lower Saint Mary Lake, continuing north to Babb (as far as we went).

It's the main road in this area so we traveled it everyday enjoying the Blackfeet history.

MT-49 ("Looking Glass Road"): Goes south from US-89 to Two Medicine area and East Glacier Village. The northern part passes over Looking Glass Hill.

This 10-mile winding, narrow, steep "roller-coaster" road is fun as a passenger (not so sure the driver would agree). Drove this route several times. Sometimes it was clear and sunny, sometimes cloudy, and also at sunset. Unless swamped with fog, it’s great, no matter what the weather.
EAST GLACIER PARK VILLAGE: Pretty steady rain. Planned our time in east Glacier to be here at the same time as friends that now live in Oregon.

Met them at the Whistle Stop Cafe for lunch. Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere here.
Brownies next door for pastries: so many yummy choices--bearclaw, muffin, peach marzipan sugar cookie, huckleberry iced kipples. Never heard of a kipple. Wow, are they good!

GLACIER PARK LODGE: Inside this historic hotel, Douglas Fir logs tower over the lobby, a cozy fire crackled in the stone fireplace, and soothing music from a piano player. Nice place on a cold, rainy day.
