BOYA LAKE PP
Jade City
As we drive further north, we noted some beautiful pink and yellow flowers near the highway, as well some amazing lakes and views. As per Paul we see enough and we are not stopping for flowers – as per Gine: we should stop all the time and “smell the flowers” as well drive way slower so she has more time looking. We did stop at a garbage Bin, so we could get rid of all our garbage.
Our first stop for the day was Jade City:
  • It is named after the Jade deposts found here from the Princess Jade Mine: which is one of the largest jade claims in the world
  • Interestingly we also learned that Cassiar: an asbestos mining town which was mining Asbestos until 1992, when they had to get rid of Asbestos, they filled the mine with Asbestos to get rid of it and found another huge Jade Mine
As we stop in front of the store, a guy who works here came towards us, as we have a German lisence plate and he told Gine, that he is from Germany and was on a trip with his Dad last year and liked it so much here, so when he got a job offered he took it and now works here. We went into the store and the green jade is amazing – also when they cut those super cool stones and you can see them inside: it is amazing how wonderful our nature can make stones. By the way we even got free coffee here. We did not buy anything because Jade is not really cheap.
Outside they had several mining equipment staff hanging around as well as some Jade stones which still need to be worked with – it was a super cool and interesting stop (especially when it is cold)
Cassiar Cemetery
Shortly after we stopped at the Cassiar Cemetery – and walked through it – with lots of white crosses. And we wondered how many of those people died because they were mining Asbestos?
Gine heard a lot about this lake on how beautiful it is, it was still cloudy and fairly cool when we drove in, but decided to drive through the campground and found at the very end a beautiful lake side campsite. So big question should we stay or should we go??? We decided to walk along the campsite and check it out and it is funny as we recognise a lot of the vehicles from previous campsites – it’s funny how we all do the same tours. On our walk back from the day use – it looked like the blue is coming a bit through and as before we were more for keep going Gine said we stay.
We decided to stay
Gine said if we stay she will get the paddle board out and that was a good thing as Paul then could access his tools which are underneath the back seat – for repairing our jacks – as well he needed them later to repair the chair (I have the feeling we are always preparing).
A bit early but we had coffee down at the lake: it was so gorgeous – the lake has a greenish turquoise tint color and there are super nice mountains in the back – looks amazing. When you look in the water it is crystal clear. As we sit the sun comes out more and we are so happy we stayed and that we can enjoy a wonderful afternoon.
Out with the Paddleboard
Gine went out with the paddle board to go towards some of those greenish turquois areas and paddled around a few little islands – it is a lot of fun to be out on the water – even the water is still very cold. The views are amazing – the colors are amazing – and there are so many little islands you can nearly get lost. At one time Gine thought she stops on a Mini island when a sea gull got super upset with Gine because this was where her nest was and I landed right then and there… wow was she ever noise.
During Gine was out Paul was enjoying the sunhine and the views from our own little private beach.
We have lots of sunshine
The weather was so nice we later were sitting together in the sunshine. Mandy came out and had some real fast running into the camper moments as next door the couple has a dog.  But at one time she was so brave that she walked towards the lake to explore and have fun and I think she is studying the dog next door.
Supper outside in the sun – and then more enjoying the lake and the last sunrays before the cool wind came and we headed back inside. By the way you don’t know when the lake looks at it’s best the color changes as the sun moves.
The good thing with the wind is, there are no mosquitos – the bad thing it is a bit cooler!!!!
Yesterday we decided that we will spend another nice relaxing day on this gorgeous lake – but then yes it rained again last night and when we got up in the morning it was still cloudy and cool, so we decided to keep going on.
