Waiting

Boquete, Chiriquí, Panama

Spent this week seeking health insurance .

It seems that someone who is permanently traveling falls into a black hole: companies insure travelers (temporary ones) or residents (of a particular country). US residents fall into a whole other category.

I've tried to contact other travelers I've read about, through their blogs, but no responses. Not many permanent travelers, or they're just not on the web. The ones that call themselves permanent travelers have established residency somewhere outside the US. I may have to do that, but it can be time consuming and will mess up my travel plans.

Currently awaiting responses from insurance agents.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, I decided to go on a hike. Been sitting around way too much.

Went up the road to see some waterfalls. Wasn't expecting to see one right on the side of the road; easily missed if traveling by vehicle .

The next one was in back of a farm on the mountain, $5 entry fee.

After that was a long hike to the three waterfalls ($7 entry). Lots of interesting things along the way, following the river (see pics).

The three waterfalls are on the same river, hiking up from one to the other.

All the falls I saw were about 100+ feet.

Left at 9:30am. Returned at 3:30pm. Ankles and calves sore because of lack of exercise. Mostly been reading during waits for internet responses on insurance.

Eating canned meat and junk food; went out for a burger twice; filet mignon once; veggie sandwich once; sautéed veggies last night and tonight (been eating too much meat, so I decided I needed to cook something healthy).

So for the past week I've been averaging less than $30/day, even with rum and cokes and beer.
