Cycle ride

Benicasim, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands

A day of relative inactivity is usually followed by a much more active one, and so it proved today. We decided on a bike ride and rode through Benicassim southwards towards the obelisk. Regaining the traffic-free path off the market place, we tried to find the nature reserve I’d read about but after several miles along empty paths with no sign, we contented ourselves with admiring the pampas grasses, pine cones and lemon trees before we got to the promenade.

I love the fact that there are palm trees both on the prom and on the beach and we rode alongside them as far as we could. We had to walk the bikes past the Torreon, (no cycling allowed) but since everyone else seemed to be riding, we joined them once we were past the crowds. We stopped for an ice cream at Jotas, whose beach bar was open for the last time of the year then made our way back to the site for the evening.
