Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India
Another early start for the drive to Agra, home to the Taj Mahal and a red fort similar to the one in Delhi. An uneventful journey through a largely rural landscape with many small scale brickworks pumping out smoke so the atmosphere is sadly a bit smoggy but through the haze we saw the ancient city of ffatepur sikir built by the moguls as a new capital but it only lasted 6 years due to water problems before they returned to Agra. We explored Agra fort and got a lovely view through the haze of the Taj Mahal. After a delightful lunch at a rooftop terrace restaurant we checked in at our hotel to freshen up before we went to see the Taj Mahal at sunset.
what can one say about the Taj Mahal? A truly amazing place .We had a special buffet dinner and stopped off at a wedding on the way back to the hotel for the girls to join in with the dancing.
