Back in Delhi

Delhi, National Capital Territory of , India
A lie in for a change,a late breakfast and sending off all our dirty laundry from our week away were today's tasks. We then very bravely set off for the local metro station to go to Connaught Place in the centre of Delhi.Built between the wars it is a series of concentric circles built to resemble the royal crescent in Bath and it is here that one finds all the "branded" shops as they say here. Our mission was to try and get my little video camera unjammed and a battery for Kate's watch which we did. Whilst we were there a big political rally was taking place as elections are taking place for Delhi so we were advised to stay away from that part of Connaught place .Complete strangers were eager to chat to us and not try and sell us something.A couple of chaps insisted on guiding us personally to the right shop and another hailed a tuktuk for us and told the driver to charge the correct amount(22p)and he waited for us for another 11p fare. he then said take the metro back it will be quicker and the same price(22p). We did succumb to a few light souvenirs that were made or designed by the sellers.
All in all a satisfactory day but we were told we'd just missed the snow in Simla and the north,to which replied we knew it was coming because our guide in Rishikesh had said the wind had changed to the north and that was why we couldn't see the snowy peaks yesterday at the temple we visited .
