Our plane arrived 30 mins early and we went through immigration without any fuss and our luggage appeared on the reclaim almost immediately.Changed all our Omani and Qatari money plus a bit of sterling and out through customs. joy upon joy as in front of the hordes of waiting people we saw our names on a placard and we were soon on our way to our hotel on the edge of old Delhi. Sadly it was dark and foggy so couldn't see much out of the windows but were spell bound by the antics of all the drivers. It wasn't long before we heard the first toot of a horn! As today is a Sunday and tomorrow turns out to be republic day there was little traffic as most people are on holiday,tucked up in bed which is what we did as soon as we checked in.
in the afternoon we wandered around the streets looking at all the sights finding it hard to convince all the tuktuk drivers that we didn't want to go to all the tourist sites but just wanted a stroll . They must have thought we were lost as we were the only obvious Europeans amongst the thousands of shoppers. However,thanks to trip advisor,we found a great little restaurant round the corner(£6 for butter chicken and naans) and a bar(under a fiver for 2 pints).when we left the bar all the neon signs were lit and the whole area just seemed far more vibrant than before which was saying something.
