The spirit was willing but the flesh was VERY weak

Bergues, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France
We were sitting up in bed at 4.30am this morning, contemplating whether we should postpone the trip because we were both feeling so awful.  We managed to convince ourselves to get on with it and not be such wimps.   That said - we don't just get colds, we get full blown chest infections which last for weeks - we haven't really got rid of the last lot.
It was a beautiful morning and once we were on the road we brightened up a bit.
We arrived at Dover in good time and the nice people at P&O hurried to put us on the earlier ferry. After a flat calm voyage we arrived in Calais and decided not to push our luck, and just stop a short distance along the way.

We ended up in the MH Aire in the fortified town of Bergues - not an Aire we had used before. As it was the May Day weekend there were already several MH's already there. It is a large aire near playing fields and just beside the big town walls. We found a nice sheltered spot by a bank and after the usual ' nice cup of tea' we went for a stroll around the town and its walls in the warm afternoon sun.
