Getaway!

Hol, Buskerud, Norway
We had an awful night at this campsite.   As we were near the edge of the site several large tatty twin axle caravans pitched nearby, and several men with an assortment of pick-up trucks and vans congregated outside - itinerant workers!  They were noisy and intrusive but finally settled down.
We got to sleep around midnight, but were then rudely awakened between 2 & 3 am by very loud drum and base music which went on intermittently until 6am!!.
,  We found out that May is graduation time for thousands of students at Oslo Uni. and to celebrate they hire big buses and tour around the city all night ,competing with each other to make the most noise, with enormous sound systems and loud speakers!!!
We were totally disillusioned by Oslo. It was still pouring with rain, so the best we could do was move on.

Our aim was to move north towards the Western Fjords area, so we left Oslo on the E16 and then at Honefoss joined the 7. By this time the rain had stopped and the weather had started to brighten up. The scenery started to change and we could see snow on the distant mountains.

Sunday May 17th is Constitution Day in Norway and almost every house was flying an enormous National flag and we saw several people in National Costume and some parades.   In Oslo there was a big ' children;s parade'.          We passed by several lakes and through some lovely villages with pretty churches.           I will let the photos tell the story, but please remember that most pictures are taken through glass as we are moving along!
We eventually reached our destination - a Dutch run ACSI 16e site - Birkelund Camping, on R52 near Hol.  This was quite a small site, with several cabins for rent and there was only one other MH and a caravan.  The owners were very friendly and helpful. They gave us 2x 5K coins for the showers and even a token for a small dishwasher (that's a first!)   The shower block was lovely and warm , and the showers hot and controllable for 5mins.   There was free internet and the electricity was not metered.
