Kvanndal, Hordaland, Norway
When we woke up it was very cold and the grass and roofs were sparkling with frost. The owner said it was minus 3 deg.  It was lovely and clear and bright.       We continued along the R52 past frozen lakes and amazing mountain scenery .       At one stage what we thought must be a ptarmigan, all grey and white, ran across the road in front of us but I was too late to snap it . We then wound our way down, through lots of tunnels to Aurland, with wonderful views of the fjord.        There was supposed to be a great wild camping spot right on the waterfront, but when we got there , there were big notices saying no camping, no motorhomes.  Another nearby spot had restrictions on overnight parking.
So, we gotta move on - or pay exhorbitant amounts for a campsite!   We by-passed Flam of railway fame, and carried on to Voss on the E16, passing through lots of tunnels - one at over 11kms. Most of these tunnels were full of fumes.  We turned on to the R13 to Granvin and then on to the VERY narrow and winding R7 along the famous Hardanger fjord

We stopped for the night at the ferry terminal at Kvanndal.   The car park had no overnight restrictions and was far enough away from houses and the empty campsite.  The ferries go to Kinsarvik and Utne across the fjords and we watched several ferries come and go, with enormous articulated lorries on board - the ones you meet on blind bends on the very narrow road along the fjord!!

We cooked our evening meal and settled down for the night and the ferry staff and ticket collectors didn't seem in the slightest bit interested.  The last ferry left at 11.30pm and we got a good nights sleep until the lorries started arriving for the 6.30am ferry next morning.
