Travel Day

Because we did not have to travel far today, less than 100 miles, we took our time in breaking camp and left around 10:00 .   We headed north on US Hwy 191 to the city of Moab and our next base camp at the Spanish Trail RV Park. Along the way we stopped at “Wilson Arch”, this is a large arch of sandstone on a bluff along the road, it is viewable from the road but the best view is from directly under the arch. After a climb of about 15 minutes over loose rock, gravel and dirt up a steep incline we reached the base of the arch, and what a beautiful sight, and to try and imagine the forces that it took tocreate the arch. The difference between an arch and a natural bridge, both are similar in appearance, is that a natural bridge was created by the forces of water, a river or creek, while an arch was created through the forces of wind and natural erosion. After we set up camp we went into town to restock our supplies of food and beverages. The campground here is very nice with grassy areas next to each camper and wonderful views of the mountains in both front and in back of the campground.
