I'm glad it's bright and sunny today. I won't get too cold. I started my day by climbing the stairs up the north temple pagoda. I had a great view of the city from there. At the back was a garden with a lot of cats and two Buddhist monks. The atmosphere was really quite and peaceful.

The most famous garden in Suzhou is called 'The Humble Administrator's garden' and the Lonely Planet comment on it is 'you will have to battle with the crowd' . Well if you go on Christmas Eve, this comment doesn't apply. I can't say I had the garden for myself but no crowd. This garden is an UNESCO world heritage site. It's really huge and very enjoyable. Once again there is lots of ponds, zigzag bridges, pavilions, hidden corner, moon doors and so on.... a real maze.

Toward the end of my garden tour, I met a French girl. She was also on her own so we spend the rest of the day together. It was very nice to stroll around the old town and canals with someone. She was really nice but at the end of the day she jump in the bus to the train station and all I know of her is her name. That kind of encounters are very (hum how to say ...) ephemeral. But I really enjoyed not spending the day on my own (for once).



Aujourd'hui le soleil brille, ça veut dire que je ne devrais pas avoir trop froid. J'ai commencé ma journée en montant en haut de la Pagode du temple du Nord. La vue de là-haut était plutôt sympa. Derrière la Pagode se trouve un petit jardin avec tout un tas de chats et deux moines bouddhistes. L'atmosphère y était très calme et apaisante.

Le jardin le plus connu de Suzhou s'appelle 'Le jardin des humbles administrateurs' et le Lonely Planet a écrit qu'on va devoir se battre avec la foule pour profiter de la vue. Bon si vous y allez la vieille de noël, la foule ne sera pas un problème. Je n'avais pas le jardin juste pour moi mais il n'y avait pas grand monde. Ce jardin est classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO et c'est vrai qu'il est vraiment joli, et grand. Je me suis de nouveau régalée à parcourir les allées qui mènent d'un pavillon à l'autre, d'une marre à l'autre ou d'un pont à l'autre. Il y a des tas de coins et de recoins. Un vrai labyrinthe.

Vers la fin de ma visite du jardin j'ai rencontré une française. Elle était aussi toute seule alors on a passé le reste de la journée ensemble. C'était bien agréable de faire le tour de la vieille ville et des canaux avec quelqu'un. A la fin de la journée elle a sauté dans le bus et voilà....ce fût une rencontre éphémère mais bien agréable.
