A day of flying

Los Angeles, California, United States
It was nice having the leg room but being unable to sleep was horrible especially sitting upright. For the five hours flight to Los Angeles we resorted to taking a sleeping pill to get some with including putting eye blinkers on.

Was a smooth flight very little turbulence LA is three hours ahead of Hawaii so we arrived 5am LA time at Terminal 4. Very cool and fogging outside. Thank god our suitcase went on to Alaska Airlines flight AS707. We had fun finding where to get the shuttle to Terminal 6 plus once we did get there we didn't have a Boarding Pass so we had to wait for the shuttle that went to Terminal 6 show the lady at the desk there our Flight Itinerary and Baggage slip. Once we finally found Alaska Airlines Gate 68a (Terminal has two sides A and B) which was hidden right at the very end of that part of the Terminal we were able to getting our Boarding Passes. Thank heavens there was someone there at 5am (a strange quiet young man) he gave us window seats and did our Frequent Flyers as well.

Four and a quarter hours to kill and not much open to see. Settled for a coffee to try and wake up. Had to be careful with money as we only had $21.00 let and most food outlets took cash. Later we found a café that took cards and we had an American breakfast of 3 pancakes, scramble egg with a meat pattie (that is what the Americans class as a sausage). Very fatty and full of calories tried washing it down with fruit and water.

With time to kill we settled in to a bit of people watching was very entertaining and passed the time away. As time was getting close to boarding (8.05pm) we ventured back to Gate 68A and of course Richard's flying nervous settled in and he needed to go to the Washroom. Thankfully he had an extra 15 minutes the lady at the Front Desk informed me the plane was late and the cleaning was being done and Richard had the time.

Richard is very good at holding up trains, planes and buses nerves about going to different places Must be a man thing but then niece Denise bless her soul hated flying. Me it is exciting to go to new places and see new sites
