Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
What a night so much talking outside and noise till 4 in the morning Richard said there were four nightclubs in whistler and a lot of the people staying here are young. Earplugs didn't save us so I hope it is better tonight or it is one of Mum's sleeping pills to get a good nights rest.

It's raining again the rain has been following us for a few days now. Richard and I are getting better with prepaying by MasterCard at the petrol station or should I say gas station. Petrol is dear in Whistler $143.9 pity we didn't have a lighter tank in Comox where it was $130.9. Loaded Jill and again we had fun finding the Information Centre at the Whistler Games Village. Got all the relevant maps and information of what to see. . First stop was Brandywine Falls this was the one I wanted to see yesterday it's a 16km drive south of Whistler Village on Hwy 99 on the way in before we got to Creekside of Whistler Creek. Brandywine Falls is a spectacular 66m waterfall and views of Daisy Lake and black Tusk the soaring monolithic remains of a dormant volcano. Took the trail to Daisy Lake which was also a spectacular view. to get to the Brandywine Falls you walk over a wooden bridge and the rapid flowing water below is crystal clear I don't know if this is part of the fall you then follow a trail over a railway track which could be the on the Rocky Mountaineer travels on through the Rockies. Lovely trail if people don't get in your way. Next we drove to Alexander Falls but first we thought we would have a quick look at the 2010 Whistler Olympic Park but there was a toll gate and we didn't want to pay a Park Fee (being cheap skates again but we had seen the park on TV). Alexander Falls is 43m tall and 12m wide it's on the Madely Creek in the Callaghan Valley another spectacular view. As you can see Richard is in deep thought. Was a good spot to have morning tea if it wasn't for a families dog running around us for food.

Seeing the weather was clearing (put our poncho's in the backpack for safety sake and to keep the rain away) we decided to go back to the Visitors Centre At Whistler Village to get a Day Pass to do the Peak2Peak ride. So busy now in Whistler had problems parking near the centre (all parking meters) Richard parked at a hotel next door while I raced in. This time I had a lovely lady the last lady behind the counter wasn't too helpful. She did the directions on a map told us where the free parking was and I paid for the tickets senior's price of course $88.10 for all the gondola rides up and down the two mountains. There must be some big event on with mountain bikes (SCAMS) as bikers are taking gondola's up the mountain and racing down. There are people, bikes, stalls everywhere with loud music and commentary over microphones. There is also a Jeep W4W Show on which we had a look at.

A lovely volunteer chap showed us where to catch the Whistler Village Gondola glad to get away from the crowds. We were lucky to have all the gondola rides to ourselves where we could walk around the inside of the gondola without anyone obstructing our views taking photos and videos. Took two gondola rides to reach the Roundhouse Lodge (first stop) here we decided to have our lunch in the cafeteria lots of shops flogging clothes.   Walked out onto the balcony to look at the view of Whistler nice and high up now I didn't tell Richard about the next ride on the Peak Express (an open ski chair). A volunteer showed us the winding trail down to the chair lift for the 15 minute ride to the Whistler Summit poor Richard went white knuckles were hanging out while he clenched the safety handlebar holding us in. Eyes closed at first as we were bloody high up over the ice and sides of the mountain and boy was it cold up there. Richard raced to the toilet the compose himself and then we looked at the fantastic views had to wait for the mist to pass a few times but the cold wind was worth the wait.

The cold was too much and we took the ski lift back down the 15 minute ride seemed to be quicker and Richard was used to the heights by now. Quick walk up the track back to the Roundhouse Lodge where we once again had a big red gondola to ourselves to go on the Peak2Peak ride from the Whistler Mountain cross the valley to the Blackcomb Mountain. What a spectacular view of the whole area this took about 25 minutes and boy are you high up the wind rocks the gondola a bit.

Once down we had a pleasant walk back to the car away from all the mountain bike rides and people. The weather was holding up till we drove back to our condo and it was raining again. Got a surprise Skype call from Phyllis and John caught up on the gossip and what mail we had. then while I was in the shower Gerard Skyped Richard and they had a long chat mainly footy.

Early dinner caught up on the blog watched a DVD and went to bed late. Hopefully we get a good nights rest tonight without all the loud niose from other guests but one mustn't complain as we are at a ski resort. Tomorrow will be the last day for climbing up and down two flights of stairs the condo's are built going up the mountainside and are three storeys high.
